Presentation Skill Training -10 Tips for Giving Powerful, Professional Presentations

In spite of the popularity of cross training, most people as a rule aren’t asked to do something totally out of their field. Yet almost everyone in a corporate or professional setting these days is expected, even required, to give presentations. Public speaking is a profession that requires training and practice just like any other. But we’re constantly being pushed to the front of the room to sell, educate, persuade, dazzle and shine. It can be scary for some and downright debilitating for others.

Here are my top ten "P’s" for giving Powerful Presentations.

1. The Plan In choosing your topic, realize the best speakers speak from their own experiences. It’s good to have references from (other) experts, but remember you’re the specialist here or you wouldn’t have been asked to speak. During the planning phase find out all you can about your listeners, location, and latitude. Customize your talk to your audience. Know how to get to your venue then arrive early. Know what’s expected of you and stay within your time frame.

2. The Preparation Mark Twain said, "It usually takes me three weeks at least to prepare a good impromptu speech." The best way is to write your talk, then speak from notes highlighting what you want to cover. The second best way is to write the speech out and practice it until you can do it without referring frequently to your script. The worst ways are reading it with little eye contact or memorizing it (unless you’re a professional actor).

3. The Presentation The most important aspect is the visual " how you look, eye contact, body language, gestures and the visuals you use. If you look nervous, it destroys your message. As someone said, it’s all right to have butterflies, just make them fly in formation. The next important element is vocal " how you speak, the tone, pitch, clarity, volume and quality of your voice. The final element is verbal " the actual words you say. It’s important to be accurate and, yes, entertaining. The bottom line is that how you deliver the talk makes more of an impression on your audience than what you say. Audiences will forgive you for making mistakes, but not for boring them or wasting their time.

4. A Positive Attitude This is a hard one when you’re feeling scared and nervous. And it’s the best way to stop the jitters. The key is to be prepared, then get your ego out of the way and stop thinking about how the audience might judge you and think about what you can do for them. It’s always about your listeners, not yourself. They want you to do well. You know you can do it!

5. Be Physically (and mentally) Fit This means taking care of yourself daily. Eat right, exercise, meditate, and get enough rest especially the night before. You must have real physical and mental energy; you can’t fake it.

6. Practice! 7. Practice! 8. Practice! The more you practice and hone your presentation, the better it will be when you give it. And the more you give actual presentations, the better you’ll get at it. In fact it’s the only way to master public speaking.

9. Play You thought I was going to say "pray." That’s always a good idea; I do it before every talk. Then Play. Relax and have fun. Giving a speech isn’t brain surgery, even if you would prefer a lobotomy to having to give one. Personal stories are the most interesting part of any presentation that’s ever been given and what people will remember most. Be naturally humorous rather than telling jokes.

10. Pick a Professional Coach If you really want to be good at giving presentations, hire a coach. You can also take classes or join Toastmasters. Practice first in front of someone trained to give you good, honest feedback and who wants you to excel!

Presentation skill training and coaching are a powerful combination in developing your effective presentation skills. Printer maintenance kits

Printers have been around for years and these days they are an essential part of any office environment. Whether its a sales report or internet usage statistics logged by your server they all need to be printed. To do all this work you need a trusty printer. Think what would happen if your printer got jammed in the middle of the assignment that your boss gave you. It can be messy situation! Printer maintenance steps in here. All you need to do is purchase a printer maintenance kit and say bye to all those printer hassles.

Maintenance kits are used to ensure that your printer is installed and ready for use. They also provide the technical support for the printer when ever it is not functioning properly. Maintenance is extremely important for printer toners as it ensures that your toners last longer. It will prevent your printer from getting stuck on those busy days. Therefore, doing regular printer maintenance can save you a lot time, effort and money.

To keep your printer functioning properly you need to have a printer maintenance kit. This kit comes in two famous brand names Hp and Canon. Both of these companies are the best provider of the electronic equipments in the world. These kits can be easily installed. They come with various components. Few of these components are: fuser, transfer roller, assembly and pickup. However, the printer maintenance equipment in these kits varies from printer to printer. It greatly depends upon the printer model as well. Fuser kits for color printers is an item used printer maintenance. It is consumable and holds the fuser, filters and other necessary parts.

To keep your printer in good shape, you must purchase the maintenance kits. These maintenance kits include all those items that can be damaged over the period of time. The great thing about these kits is that they are very economical. The complete kit is going to cost you much less than buying individual items individually. With constant use your printer’s fuser assembly and rubber rollers can get damaged. Eventually they fail to hold the paper firmly. In this case you can either get your printer repaired or buy a new printer. All this can be avoided if you have a good printer maintenance kit.

Here are some tips and pointers for maintaining your printer:

First of all your printer’s heads should stay clean. This will allow for fluent release of ink during printing. The nozzles will not get clogged and prints will be much sharper and crisp even at higher dpi. Your printers may have automatic self cleaning options but sometimes they don’t prove the effective. It is recommended that you clean your printer manually, if possible. To clean the print head, simply start by taking out the cartridge. Now carefully clean the print heads with moist cotton cloth. However, you should not use any tissue or alcohol as this can damage your printer. Now replace the cartridge when printer heads are dry. This will increase your printer’s life and enhance the quality of your prints. However, despite basic printer maintenance, you will always need a good printer maintenance kit so that your printer never fails while printing those hefty reports.

I am working as a software engineer in a software house and I found www.cosmiccartridge.com/ very useful for finding information on printer maintenance kits and I thought of sharing it with you.

Data recovery - Process of recovering lost data

Data recovery is the phenomena of recovering and restoring information or data from a storage device commonly called Hard Disk Drive. Hard Drive is a magnetic disk on which we can store our data .When the data is physically overwritten on a hard disk it is generally assumed that the previous data is no longer possible to recover. In other words data recovery is the process of retrieving computer data which has been deleted or missing by some accidental ways.

Data gets damaged or missing in a variety of ways from virus attacks which results in a loss of most important data on your hard drives. These viruses have an inborn capacity to duplicate and destroy data and files. Data is a very important resource that is the life-line of modern age. All informative data information resides on a variety of storage devices such as hard disks and tape drives.

When we loss data it becomes very difficult for a computer user who is all dependent of computer for his daily work. In most times we fail to take precautions or backup to our computers which ultimately results in the loss of our data at a large extend.

Two types of data loss is possible one is physical damage and other is logical damage. The physically damaged includes CD-ROMs, head crashes, electric failure, and tapes. This type of damage relies on physical phenomena or physical impact. And the logical damage includes File system which is most common possible damage and which cannot be repaired by end user. Logical errors are often occurred when the disk accidentally fails while writing important information to the disk. The logical errors are the important or difficult errors to deal with when data is recovered. Logical errors occurred when files become corrupted or inaccessible, there is a delay in starting up the computer, and all programs do not run in proper manner.

Now a day we are able to recover our data without any panic, thanks to data recovery software. If you've accidentally deleted or had your important files inaccessible, damaged or lost due to mistake, business espionage, faulty hardware or software or any other reason; the good news is that your lost data is probably recoverable. The data recovery software efficiently restores and recovers your missing or deleted data with out any damage to your data. There are some companies which provide you with customer services. you can call or talk with them about the loss of your data they will provide you comfortable data recovery software When you find one that you feel comfortable with, give them a chance to serve you. The new improved technology for data recovery has increased the value for such software's.

Notebook-Laptop Memory (RAM) Upgrade In 5 Minutes Or Less

This article is set up in two parts, one part about RAM overview and a second part about RAM upgrade. If you are curious on how the RAM works, you will find a detail summary that should give you all the information that you need to know about RAM, organization and speed. If you just want the how to upgrade section, move on directly to part two Upgrade your laptop ram in 5 minutes or less.

1 - RAM Overview

There are two big categories of random access memories:

* Dynamic memories (DRAM, Dynamic Random Access Module), not very costly. They are in most cases used for the central memory of the computer * Static memories (SRAM, Static Random Access Module), quick and expensive. SRAM is notably used for cache memories of the processor

Functioning of the random access memory

The random access memory is constituted of hundred of thousand small condensers storing charges. When it is loaded, the logical state of the condenser is equal to 1, otherwise it belongs to 0, what means that every condenser represents one bit of memory. Given that condensers off-load, it is always necessary to recharge them in a space of regular time called cycle of refreshment. Memory DRAM requires cycles of refreshment for instance (Ns) is about 15 nanoseconds.

Every condenser is coupled with a transistor allowing to "recover « or to change the state of the condenser. These transistors are lined up in form of matrix, that is they achieve a hut memory (so called memory) by a line and a column.

So, for a memory of type DRAM, the time of access is of 60 nanoseconds (35ns of delay of cycle and 25 ns of time of latency). On a computer, the time of cycle corresponds contrary to the frequency of the clock, for instance for a computer pulsated in 200 MHz, the time of cycle is 5 ns (1 / (200*106)).

As a result a computer having a frequency well brought up and using memories the time of access of which is much longer than the time of cycle of the processor must perform cycles of wait to access to the memory. In the case of a computer pulsated in 200 MHz using memories of types DRAM (which the time of access is of 60ns), there are 11 cycles of wait as a cycle of transfer. The performances of the computer are of as much diminished as there are cycles

Formats of Random Access Memory (RAM

There are numerous types of random access memories. These all come in the form of barrettes of memory attachable on the motherboard.

* SIMM (Single Inline Memory Module): it is about printed circuits among which one of the faces has fleas of memory. There are two types of barrettes SIMM, according to the number of connector cables (30 or 72)

* DIMM (Dual Inline Memory Modulates) are from memories 64 bits, what explains why it is not necessary to match them. Barrettes DIMM have fleas of memory on both sides of printed circuit and have also 84 connector cables on each side, what endows them with a total of 168 brooches. They have bigger dimensions than barrettes SIMM (130x25mm).

* RIMM (Rambus Inline Memory Module, conscripts also RD-RAM or DRD-RAM) are from memories 64 bits developed by the society Rambus. They have 184 brooches. These barrettes have two notches of location (détrompeurs), avoiding very risk of confusion with the previous modules. Considering their well brought up speed of transfer, barrettes RIMM have a thermal film made responsible for ameliorating the clearing up of warmth. As in the case of DIMM, there are modules of smaller size, called SO RIMM (Small Outline RIMM), intended for laptop computers. Barrettes SO RIMM include only 160 brooches.

* DRAM (Dynamic RAM, dynamic RAM) is the type of memo most spread at the beginning of the millennium. It is about a memory from which transistors are lined up in a matrix according to lines and of columns. A transistor, coupled with a condenser gives the information of a bit. 1 byte consisting of 8 bits, a barrette of memory 256 Mb DRAM will contain 256 therefore * 2^10 * 2^10 = 256 * on 1024 * on 1024 = 268 435 456 bytes = 268 435 456 * 8 = 2 147 483 648 bits = 2 147 483 648 transistors. A 256 Mb barrette has so in reality a capacity of 268 435 456 bytes, that is 268 Mb! These are memories from which the time of access is 60 ns. On the other hand, accesses memory are made in general on data lined up consecutively in memory. So the mode of access in gust (burst mode) allows to achieve the three successive data in the first one without time of additional latency.

* DRAM FPM to speed up accesses to DRAM, there is a technology, called pagination consisting in achieving data located on the same column by changing the address of the line only, what allows to avoid the repetition of the number of column between the reading of each of the lines. They speak then about DRAM FPM (Fast Page Mode). FPM allows to acquire time of access in the order of 70 - 80 nanoseconds for a frequency of functioning that can go from 25 to 33 Mhz.

* DRAM EDO (Extended Data Out, Goes out of data ameliorated sometimes also called "hyper-page") appears in 1995. The technology used with this type of memory consists in addressing the following column during the reading of the data of a column. It creates an overlapping of accesses allowing to save time on every cycle. The time of access to memory EDO is therefore about 50 - 60 nanoseconds for a frequency of functioning going 33 - 66 Mhz. So, RAM EDO, when it is used in mode gust allows to acquire cycles of form 5-2-2-2, that is a benefit of 4 cycles on the access to 4 data. As much as memory EDO did not accept the upper frequencies in 66 Mhz, it disappeared in aid of SDRAM.

* SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM, translate synchronous RAM), appeared in 1997, allows a reading of data synchronized with the bus of the card-mother, contrary to memories EDO and FPM (qualified as asynchronous) having their own clock. SDRAM allows therefore to free itself from time of wait owed to synchronization with the card-mother. This one allows to acquire a cycle in mode gust of form 5-1-1-1, that is to say benefit of 3 cycles in comparison with RAM EDO. In that way SDRAM is able of working with a cadenza going until 150 Mhz, allowing him to acquire from time of access about 10 ns.

* DR-SDRAM (Direct Rambus DRAM or else RDRAM) is a type of memory allowing to transfer data on a bus of 16 wide bits to a cadenza of 800Mhz, what confers on him a band passer-by of 1,6 Go / s. As SDRAM, this type of memory is synchronized with the clock of the bus to ameliorate exchanges of data.

* DDR-SDRAM (Double Dated Miss SDRAM) is a memory based on technology SDRAM, allowing to double the rate of transfer of SDRAM with equal frequency. Reading or writing of data in memory am accomplished on the basis of a clock. Standard memory DRAM uses a method conscript SDR (Single Data Fails) consisting in reading or writing data in every forehead going up. DDR allows to double the frequency of reading / writings, with a clock pulsated in the same frequency, by sending data in every forehead going up, as well as in every downward forehead. Memory DDR has in general a commercial appellation of type PCXXXX where "XXXX " represent the debit side in Mb / s.

* DDR2 (or DDR-II) allows to attain twice as well brought up debit sides as DDR with equal external frequency. They speak about QDR (Quadruple Dated Fail or quad-pumped) to indicate the method of reading and used writing. Memory DDR2 uses in effect two channels separated for reading and for writing, so it is able of sending or of accepting twice more data than DDR.

2 - Upgrading Your Laptop RAM

Upgrading a notebook memory is a specific simple process pending that you have the right RAM and are somewhat delicate.

There are different types of RAM, and you must choose the one that is compatible with your notebook computer. Memory is also a fragile, so you need to be very cautious when installing it. You should ensure that the laptop is turned off and disconnected from any exterior power supply. No lights should be visible.

It is a lot easier to install RAM on a laptop versus a desktop PC. Access to the memory slots is via a panel generally located in the bottom of the laptop. Once you have opened this panel with a small screwdriver you can see the existing memory. you can check the exact type of memory that your Notebook currently uses, because it is usually shown on the front of the memory strips and will be evident when you open up the memory panel.

The memory strips are generally locked in with small clips on the ends of the strips. To take out existing memory, simply flip the clips and then remove the memory strips gently from their holding place. If you are simply adding memory, and there is space available, just add the new memory, gently pushing it in to ensure it is fully seated in the slots, and then push the clips to hold the new memory in place.

Once you have replaced or added your Notebook computer memory, replace the access panel, and then screw the panel back in place. Lastly, power up the notebook, When the PC starts up, it will count the memory and tell you how much RAM is loaded on your laptop.

As long as you have right memory, the whole operation should take less than 5 minutes, you can then enjoy your faster, less crash prone laptop.

Have a nice upgrade!

Business Inventory Software Control

Any system, to be organized has to maintain a record of all the things it holds. From a small scale industry to a multinational company, every organization has to maintain a log of its inventory. Even for a home, an inventory record has to be maintained. This is generally done by the woman of the house, who knows exactly what items are present in the house, and where they are present. Inventory control is very essential to the functioning of a business because a company needs to know the stock it currently holds. Failure to do so may result in a dramatic collapse of both the goodwill of the company and in some cases, the company itself. For example, consider a computer manufacturing unit without a control system. Suppose it has the parts needed to manufacture about five thousand computers. If the company gets an order for the manufacture of fifteen thousand computers and accepts the order, it wouldn't realize that it doesn't have sufficient resources needed to meet the order till all five thousand computers have been manufactured. Even if it places orders for the parts at that time, it would result in stalling of the workforce till the parts arrive. Hence, control is extremely essential to any form of business, be it small or large. A business inventory software makes it easier to maintain a record of what is owned by a company.

There are various business inventory systems available on the Internet for download. A few of them are MatrixNet, MyHome System, ESInventory and Victoria Clothes Organizer. Let us now look at a couple of them in detail.

The Golden Inventory System is designed for large companies that have a huge inventory, generally tied to an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) division of a multi warehouse system. In this system, there are several functionalities. Distinct access rights can be assigned to different classes of employees. The system works using MS SQL server and database files. It can be run even in UNIX environment, not only Windows. The salient features of the Golden System are that it supports multiple users, multiple companies, multiple warehouses for a company, invoices, sales orders, labels with barcode support, barcode scanning, purchase orders, receiving inventory, support for purchase order approval process, vendor and customer payments tracking, inventory control, estimate, quote, reservations for sales orders, shipping and receiving, Point of Sale software and options related to it, work orders for manufacture operations, transfer between warehouses, screen and report permissions by users, screen customization support, export reports in excel files, etc.

The MyHome Inventory System is ideal for home and office environments. It has several features like multiple storage locations, control, shipping and receiving, transfer between locations, report wizard, screen customization support, etc. It is ideal for tracking home property.

The ESInventory is a universal inventory control tool that can be used anywhere, from homes to offices and companies. It has features supporting item creation, tracking, receiving, shipping and rental actions. Read more at http://www.wirelessnetworksecuritysoftware.com

The Victoria Clothes organizer is a simple application that can be used to manage clothes. This has features like creation of clothing sets that will help create clothing sets for occasions, based on destination type, weather, temperature, etc. The user keys in all this information into the application and the software generates a set of clothes from the inventory to be worn for the occasion.

The Little Known History Of Fiber Optic Telecommunication

1792 - The first practical optical telecommunication system - Claude Chappe's semaphore system

French inventor Claude Chappe demonstrated a practical semaphore system that eventually spanned all of France. His system was a series of semaphores mounted on towers, where human operators relayed messages from one tower to the next. It beat hand-carried messages hands down.

1854 - Total internal reflection - the technology foundation for fiber optic communication

One theory slowly took root which would ultimately solve the problem of optical communication. This phenomenon was named total internal reflection.

British physicist John Tyndall demonstrated total internal reflection by guiding light in a jet of water flowing from a tank. In the 1890s, inventors realized that bent quartz rods could carry light, and patented them as dental illuminators.

1880 - Alexander Graham Bell's optical telephone system

Alexander Graham Bell patented an optical telephone system, which he called the Photophone. He dreamed of sending signals through the air, but the atmosphere didn't transmit light as reliably as wires carried electricity.

1920 - The patent of using arrays of hollow pipes or transparent rods to transmit images

During the 1920s, John Logie Baird in England and Clarence W. Hansell in the United States patented the idea of using arrays of hollow pipes or transparent rods to transmit images for television or facsimile systems.

1930 - Heinrich Lamm demonstrated image transmission through a bundle of optical fibers

Munich's medical student Heinrich Lamm was the first person to have demonstrated image transmission through a bundle of optical fibers. In a 1930 paper, he reported transmitting the image of a light bulb filament through a short bundle.

1954 - Van Heel invented fiber cladding

All earlier fibers developed were bare and lacked any form of cladding, with total internal reflection occurring at a glass-air interface.

Dutch scientist Van Heel made the crucial innovation of cladding fiber-optic cables. He covered a bare fiber or glass or plastic with a transparent cladding of lower refractive index. This protected the total reflection surface from contamination and greatly reduced cross talk between fibers.

1960 - The invention of laser

The July 22, 1960 issue of Electronics magazine introduced its report on Theodore Maiman's demonstration of the first laser.

1964 - The critical and theoretical specification of optical fiber identified by Dr. Charles K. Kao

After a long, hard look at fiber attenuation, Dr. Kao concluded that the high losses of early fibers were due to impurities, not to silica glass itself. He forecasted that fiber loss could be reduced below 20 dB/km for long-range communication devices. Dr. Kao also illustrated the need for a purer form of glass to help reduce light loss.

1970 - Corning Glass's invention of low loss single mode fiber

Robert Maurer, Donald Keck, and Peter Schultz at Corning Glass announced they had made single-mode fibers with attenuation at the 633-nanometer helium-neon line below 20 dB/km.

1977 - The first live traffic fiber optic system

General Telephone and Electronics tested and deployed the world's first live telephone traffic through a fiber-optic system running at 6 Mbps.

Soon in May 1977, Bell Lab deployed an optical telephone communication system in the downtown Chicago area, covering a distance of 1.5 miles.

Cisco Memory Can Help Stretch Your IT Budget

It's always difficult for a company to plan for future growth. Whether yours is a small- to medium-sized business or a large, global enterprise, many growth challenges remain the same. When it comes to your computer network, for example, you may feel like you need a crystal ball to determine how to prepare for your company's future needs while not spending money needlessly. Often, the question boils down to whether to buy new Cisco hardware or to upgrade your existing equipment with, say, additional Cisco memory.

Although no single solution fits every enterprise, more often than not it makes financial sense to maximize the efficiency of your current network through upgrades, rather than to purchase completely new systems. Buying a new system is not only a huge financial commitment, but it also typically results in system downtime, debugging, and retraining. Often, you can accomplish your goals through upgrading your existing network while minimizing downtime and stretching your IT budget.

Even the best in-house IT departments aren't always on the leading edge when it comes to system upgrades. That's why it's a good idea - and a sound investment - to consult with experts who can assist you in determining the current capacity of your equipment. If they have a thorough understanding of memory compatibility and knowledge of Cisco hardware topography, they can then look at your growth targets and make recommendations to achieve network goals in a way that is both cost-efficient and time-efficient.

There are a number of ways to increase network efficiency without purchasing new equipment. For example, a gigabit interface converter (GBIC) is a cornerstone of high-speed networking. GBIC modules are both economical and easy to install, and can quickly upgrade a network. Essentially, installing GBICs means that you don't have to replace entire boards, and can give you the option of upgrading one, several, or all system modules.

Similarly, a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module is a type of transceiver that can be easily upgraded without having to turn off the network. With speeds of up to five gigabits per second, GLC SFPs are a robust network growth solution.

When it comes to selecting a partner to help you analyze your network needs, make sure to choose a company that is both experienced and reliable. For example, the company should be a leading provider of Cisco-approved memory and third-party memory, and should have a client roster that includes Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, and governmental departments and agencies.

You should also look for a company that has Cisco memory in stock, and that the memory they provide is application tested, shipped quickly, and is accompanied by a lifetime warranty. Moreover, the company should have an advance replacement policy, so you can be assured that your network will never be down due to problems with memory.

Remember that, when it comes to your company's growth, spending money on new equipment isn't necessarily the wisest choice. Maximizing your existing system just may free up the resources you need to overtake your competition.

Touched by a tablet - Choosing the right graphics tablet for you

There you are: you have finally decided to purchase a graphics tablet. Whatever your reasons may be for purchasing one, you are now faced with a very major decision: amongst all the numerous graphics tablets out there, which one would best suit your needs and your budget?

Wacom is without any doubt, a genius when it comes to graphics tablet (also known as pen tablet) technology and is continually improving their products. Due to these frequent upgrades, this article will only touch the following Wacom models: Bamboo, Bamboo Fun (a successor and an improved model over the Graphire series), Intuos3 (the 3rd generation of Intuos) and Cintiq.

The basics

All Wacom graphics tablets are easy to install and use, thanks to Wacom's Plug & Play technology. Every Wacom tablet is compatible with Macintosh and Windows, supports widescreen format, offers application and tool settings, provides a comfortable design and comes equipped with a detachable USB cable, and a programmable, cordless and battery free ergonomic pen. Therefore, your decision will be based on the main differences between these major models. Those include: pressure sensitivity, resolution and size.

  • Pressure sensitivity of the pen tip and its eraser( when present) is measured in levels: 512 levels for the Bamboo line and 1024 levels, the highest thus far, for the Intuos3 and Cintiq models.
  • Resolution, measured in lines per square inch, is marked at 2,540 for the Bamboo series and 5,080 for the Intuos3 and Cintiq models. Based on these two differences alone, if one needs or desires more precision and sharper results, the Intuos3 or the Cintiq are by far the better choices.
  • Size relates to the active area of the graphics tablet, which is the drawing/writing area and not the actual size of the tablet. If space is really a tight issue, make sure you take into consideration the actual dimensions of the graphics tablet. Since the active area of a tablet matches your computer screen no matter what size it is, don't let a smaller sized Wacom tablet fool you: the smaller sizes offer just as many features as the larger ones. Size becomes a concern when considering desk space, laptop use, portability, and user preferences. Bamboo, Bamboo Fun Small and Medium, Intuos3 4x6 and 6x8 are all wonderful options for small working environments.
  • Bringing pen to tablet: beginners

Let's start by comparing the three Bamboo models.

  • Bamboo standard (4x6 approx.) with its sleek black piano finish, is a wonderful improvement over the past Wacom models. It is perfect for any office, be it at home or at work and a perfect traveling companion. Specified mostly for office work rather than artistic tasks, it performs very well by working with your computer's existing software for marking up documents, jotting down notes and writing your signature. So if you do not need any extra art related software, and the budget is as tight as your desk space, this is the perfect graphics tablet for you.

(Bamboo standard is the only Wacom tablet, of the newer models, which does not come with a matching mouse, or any software. The accompanying Bamboo pen does not have an eraser which could prove to be inconvenient.)

  • Bamboo Fun (Small) (4x6 approx.) is terrific for children and beginners with creative minds. With four colors to choose from, (Blue, White, Black and Silver) you can personalize any office, home or at work, with your preferred color. However, despite the great Wacom quality and advantages, the active area might prove to be too small for elaborate projects.

  • Bamboo Fun (Medium) (5x9 approx.) which also comes in the same 4 different colors as the Small version, is ideal for beginners and excellent for young students, digital photographers and more creative users. The new possibilities range from personalizing your work with your signature or other creations to touching-up photos.

    Bringing pen to tablet: intermediate

The Intuos3 line, in its cool charcoal gray color and with an extra year warranty, replaces the Bamboo's Touch Ring (at the top of the tablet) with a Touch Strip (at the side of the tablet for scrolling). The position of the ExpressKeys (for shortcuts) has also changed from the top (on the Bamboo) to the side (on the Intuos3). The Intuos3 also adds tilt control to the mix, an added bonus for any serious user. It even offers more pen tips for different writing and drawing results with the one accompanying cushioned Grip Pen which provides extra comfort and reduces tension. Extra accessories are available for the Intuos3 such as an array of different pen types ranging from the classic pen for a more natural, day-to-day work and feel to the sophisticated airbrush for unbelievably realistic paintings and other art designs. The whole Intuos3 series is specially designed for wide screens and multiple monitor work stations. If you are a serious graphic artist or you spend long hours using artistic software, an Intuos3 is certainly a worthwhile investment, and most graphics professionals would call it an essential tool. That said, there are still 6 different sizes to chose from!

  • Intuos3 4x6 is easily portable with more features than the Bamboo series and perfect for small desk spaces yet affordable. However, this graphics tablet is not recommended for left-handed users because the single set of ExpressKeys and Touch Strip is on the left side of the drawing tablet. (All the other Intuos3 sizes have dual ExpressKeys and a Touch Strip on both the left and right sides of the tablet.)

  • Intuos3 6x8 benefits more professional work yet is still an excellent size for cramped spaces and is a perfect traveling companion for the laptop and ideal for serious students on the go.

  • Intuos3 6x11 targets the CAD users, and technical illustrators which may desire a larger surface area and artists who are used to drawing or painting with large sweeping motions. It is also optimized for work in single screen or for multiple monitor work stations and is ideal for editing HDTV videos. Remember, the larger your tablet surface, the more you will need to move your arms which may be viewed as a disadvantage to some users.

  • Intuos3 9x12 greatly assists professional photo-retouching artists, illustrators and industrial designers with challenging endeavors, allowing for wider sweeping strokes.

  • Intuos3 12x12, the only square tablet, caters to professionals with elaborate artistic ideas and highly detailed expectations like professional technicians and designers in any industry including automobile, textile and fashion.

  • Intuos3 12x19 targets sophisticated and high-performance work involving precision and accurate results like professional digital imagery, audio-visual technicians, graphic artists, and architects. It offers optimal use of wide screen and double monitors and is excellent for creating HDTV videos.

Bringing pen to screen: intermediate and professional

Cintiq is the combination of the Intuos3 technology with an LCD monitor. The result: a state of the art monitor that allows you to write or draw directly on the screen with unparalleled accuracy! The fact that it is detachable and totally adjustable to any angle and for any purpose (on your desk or on your knees) makes it the holy grail of the Wacom graphics tablets and obviously, the most expensive. The Cintiq series (which comes with an Intuos3 Grip Pen for optimal comfort and fatigue prevention) will greatly improve work flow and efficiency while providing spectacular, detailed results in any professional field ranging from industrial designers, audio-editors and animators to doctors, educators and story-board creators requiring faster visual effects. This interactive pen display, with leading edge technology, literally becomes your canvas or your easel.

Yet again, there are 3 Cintiq's to choose from. Size is measured diagonally, from the smaller 12.1", and mid size 20.1" to the large 21.3". The native resolution and the total number of pixels (1.0, 1.8 and 1.9 million pixels respectively) are what set them apart the most.

  • Cintiq 12WX (1280x800 native resolution) is very light (4.4lbs) and portable thanks to an extra cable and a converter box to keep it small and lightweight. It's half the price of the other Cintiq models. However, due to its small size, you may want to add this to a multi-monitor set-up. If you are a very serious artist or technical designer, it is recommended that you save for the next model up.

  • Cintiq 20WSX (1680x1050 native res.) is every professional's dream. This 20 lb unit is the preferred choice by many due to its price and size. Less costly than its larger brother, it basically offers the same features.

  • Cintiq 21UX (1600x1200 native res.) is the top of the line for pixel perfect results. Weighing in at 22.4 lbs, it's the only Cintiq with an aspect ratio of 4:3 (standard resolution). All the others have 16:10. See it in action by going to YouTube.com and searching for Cintiq... it is absolutely incredible!

When trying to choose between all of these great Wacom contenders, wallet and desk size will always be an issue. Everyday users for home and basic office duties will delight in Bamboo, Bamboo Fun and Intuos3 4x6. Professionals at home or at the office in all fields will require and thoroughly enjoy Intuos3 6x8 and up. (Academic specials for students and schools do exist for the Bamboo and the Intuos3.) Serious illustrators, educators, technical designers and artists demanding elaborate detail and high pixel perfection will absolutely love the freedom, comfort, efficiency and convenience of drawing directly on the screen... and for many users - that is priceless.

    Computers and Your Eyes

According to the 2003 U.S. Census, 64% of adults and 86% of children use computers at school, at work, or at home. Computers can make life easier and save time, but they can be very hard on your eyes. About 88% of people who use computers everyday suffer from eyestrain. There are some things that you can do to make your computer easier on your eyes.

Try these tricks to protect your eyes when using your computer:
    * Adjust your screen settings so that the light from your screen is about equal to the lighting in the room, not bright or dim, and turn up the contrast for a crisper image
    * Every fifteen to twenty minutes, get up and walk around, and shift your vision to something far away
    * Position the monitor about 10 to 15 degrees below eye level, with the top of the monitor tilted slightly away from you
    * Reduce the lighting in the room where you use your computer to about half of the normal level of lighting
    * Use curtains and low wattage bulbs to reduce glare
    * Wear glasses with a special coating that prevents glare
    * If you wear prescription glasses make sure that they address intermediate vision. Most eye glasses are optimized for near and far vision. It is estimated that 70% to 75% of computer users could benefit from the use of computer glasses.

    Computer vision syndrome (CVS)
Printed words are much easier for your eyes to focus on than the letters on your computer screen. Letters on the screen may have the illusion of being crisp and clear, but they are not. They are made of tiny pixels which cause your eyes to make constant micro-movements, shifting to the "resting point of accommodation" and then back to trying to focus on the words. This can quickly cause eye strain.

The brightness of the screen causes you to blink five times less often than normal when you are looking at the computer, leading to dry eye.

Sitting at the computer for long periods of time can cause the muscles in your face, neck, and shoulders to become stiff and tense and reduce the blood flow to your head and eyes.

Most prescriptions are not accurate for computer use, because they are not optimized for reading or viewing objects that are at the distance from our eyes as most computer screens. Your prescription need not be off enough for you to notice to cause eyestrain when using the computer. According to a recent study conducted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, even if you feel that you can see the screen clearly, your performance may be decreased as much as 20%.

Signs that your computer is damaging your eyes
    Symptoms of CVS include:
    * Eye strain
    * Difficulty focusing
    * Blurred vision
    * Double vision
    * Headaches
    * Neck and shoulder pain
    * Fatigue
    * Decreased productivity

If you use a computer on a regular basis you should have annual eye exams to make sure that it is not damaging your eyes. If you are experiencing the symptoms of CVS contact your ophthalmologist right away.

How do I fix registry problems on my computer? - 3 steps to a clean windows registry

The windows registry is somewhat of a mystery for most regular computer users. Aside from those that thrive on knowing everything about how to repair PC's and professional repair technicians, I don't think I've met anyone who knows how to understand the windows registry, let alone edit it. So how do you fix registry problems on your computer? With a little help from software tools designed to do just the job.

How do I fix registry problems using software?

I know that software is the problem when you're having errors and freezing on your PC all the time. How ever software can also be the solution. In this article I'm going to review the 3 step process needed to fix registry problems on your computer, and increase the speed, performance and reliability of windows.

NOTE: You can do all of these steps without any additional software. Of course the risk of causing damage to windows, losing data, and possibly crashing your computer is a lot greater, but with some education on registry editing, and how the windows registry system works you can remove problems on your own. If you don't have the technical knowledge or desire to learn it I suggest you follow the steps below.

Step 1 Scan for your registry for Errors

Scanning your windows registry isn't as difficult as it sounds. There can be thousands of entries, some of which are valid relating to programs and hardware on your PC now. Others are old information not removed properly after old programs were uninstalled, or possibly items entered by spyware, adware, and suspicious websites.

The easiest way to scan your system registry for problems is to download one of the many PC registry cleaner programs that offers a free scan. The majority of registry repair tools do offer this feature and it allows you to scan your entire registry to get a feel for how many if any problems exist on your computer right now.

A few programs you can check out are Regcure, Registry Mechanic, and Registry Easy they all offer a free scan utility you can use.

Step 2 Backup what you have

This part is probably the easiest to do manually, as windows now has a built in backup system that you don't have to be a PC genius to use. You can backup your windows registry files using what's known as the system restore feature in windows XP and newer.

Click Start -> Help and Support -> Create a new restore point

You'll be prompted to name the restore point something, so think of a name you'll remember but is descriptive enough so you can identify when it was made.

The other alternative is to use the same software you ran your registry scan with to backup your registry files. Not all the programs offer this registry backup feature, but look for a software that does. The three programs I used above do offer that feature.

Step 3 Repair registry problems you found

Here's the step that's makes or breaks the process. If you've been using a piece of software to fix problems with your registry thus far then just keep on going. Let the software repair the issues it finds, if your not comfortable allowing a registry repair tool automatically change items most tools offer a semi manual option. This means you can pick and choose which items are repaired, and which ones are left alone.

Have you followed those three steps? If so you should be enjoying a faster PC with improved performance. Almost all computers have something in their registry that shouldn't be there, the extent to whether it's an error causing things to slow down, crash, or freeze can only be determined by scanning and repairing the items found, unless of course you're a technician or computer geek, which you probably haven't read this far anyways.

I wish you like with how to to fix problems in your windows registry, and enjoy the improved performance of your computer in the process.

    What Exactly Are Radar Detectors?

Do you know what radar detectors are? You have seen them used in your favorite movies. You have heard them used in sci-fi and spy television series and probably you have seen them in your favorite action sequels. But have you heard of radar detectors used in determining car speed?

The year was 1887 when Heinrich Hertz started studying radio waves. Hertz's experiments became the corner stones of radar technology as we know it today.

Through the years, we have witnessed the application of radar technology in a number of important fields. We have seen radar technology applied in many important parts of world history like that of World War I and World War II. Radar technology has saved so many lives ever since it first took breath.

Radar detectors are used in so many ways nowadays. They are used in military and research facilities and they are now used in apprehending drivers who are over speeding which is violation one of the important traffic regulations in all countries all over the world.

Monitoring car speed especially in superhighways and express highways or even town roads and streets is one great thing that traffic enforcers do because that lessens occurrence of accidents which are car-related.

So, how do radar detectors work?

Radar detectors or radar guns are forms of radio transmitter and receiver rolled into one. Radar detectors oscillate electrical energy into varying levels which generates electromagnetic energy.

This electromagnetic energy travels through the atmosphere in the form of electromagnetic waves. This electromagnetic wave is increased exponentially through the use of a especial kind of amplifier.

The receiver is merely a transmitter but is reverse form of it. This time it collects electromagnetic waves and transforms them into electrical current. Radar detectors are used to monitor the distance of objects in relation to a reference point.

The reference point is obviously the radar detector. The electromagnetic waves are sent through the air and reflected back to the radar gun which then measures the distance of the object at a given time. This is then calculated by the machine to determine speed of the object. This manner of using radar detectors maximizes what is known as Doppler shift.

Radar detectors are must-haves for today's law enforcers to catch traffic violators. They are great things that Science made for the benefit of the people. But as of now, this technology is not yet used by many countries which make it difficult to accurately pinpoint car speed violators.

It's a good thing that they are now used in many countries that traffic officers and other law enforcers can have hard data that can be used as evidence in prosecuting violators through radar detectors.

Radar detectors are available from many shops and companies. You can gain access of these companies online or by other means.

Radar technology is a proof that we can benefit so much from the efforts of our scientists and other people who engineered and perfected the radar technology by investing so much effort, money and time to achieve the goal of developing a true life-saving device.

7 Good Reasons For Buying A Laptop Online

Laptops are becoming increasingly popular with consumers mainly because laptops offer excellent portability, convenience and performance in one small package. You can take your handy little laptop anywhere; no matter whether you're just going into the next room or going around the world.

Laptops or notebook computers are the ultimate high tech gadgets of our time. They offer a tremendous amount of technology in a small versatile machine: you can surf the web, you can watch movies or play games, you can create graphics or do a spreadsheet, you can write your next novel or write your latest school report, you can listen to music or connect directly by webcam to all your friends... anywhere, anytime. These are just a few of the things you can do on your laptop.

And those are all good solid reasons why you should be considering buying a laptop if you're in the market for a personal computer. Now here are some reasons why you should make that laptop purchase ONLINE.

    1. Convenience

Buying your laptop online is very convenient. You can sit in your living room and order one of these technical marvels within a few minutes. Granted, visiting your local mall or tech shop will give you an opportunity to examine your future purchase first-hand, but for many buyers in distant or remote locations this is not an option.

Online shopping makes it convenient for everyone to buy their laptop, no matter where they live. It gives everyone the same deals and specials that they normally would not get without the Internet. It is a form of 'Shopping Democracy' in action.

Forget long drives to a busy mall, high gas prices, crowded stores... ordering and buying your laptop from the comfort of your living room or your home office offers great convenience and satisfaction.

    2. Better Selection

Shopping online for your notebook offers you a greater selection. Actually, these days just about any laptop invented can be bought online. Your selection will be much greater than you can get in a brick and mortar store.

Most major laptop stores and manufacturers have online outlets so finding a merchant to suit your requirements will be very easy to do. Finding and configuring your perfect laptop will be much simpler if you do it online. You can take your time and you won't be rushed by impatient customers waiting in the line behind you or frustrated by a pushy sales clerk in front of you!

    3. Laptop Reviews

Perhaps, one of the best aspects of buying your laptop on the web, are all the reviews and customer ratings you can examine before making your final decision. The Internet is a vast warehouse of reviews and customer ratings on the products you want to buy. Third party review sites and online notebook guides are also helpful when you're looking for general information on purchasing a laptop or computer.

Many online stores have customer feedback and reviews which are extremely helpful. Whether positive or negative these reviews will guide you in making a better purchasing decision. So you should take full advantage of these online laptop reviews and sites.

    4. Comparison Shopping

Compare before you buy. Another obvious benefit of buying your laptop online, you can compare all the different prices and stores before you buy. The Internet makes this much more convenient than driving around in the real world to four or five stores just to get the best price.

Online shopping offers you a great chance to do some serious comparison shopping before you buy. Surf around and save your money.

    5. Best Pricing

Online stores offer very competitive pricing, mainly because there are no overheads or expenses these stores have to keep. Everything is automated and computerized which can mean bigger savings and lower prices for anyone buying online. It is more like buying from a warehouse outlet than a retail store. You will get a lower price.

Keep in mind, any online store will have a huge consumer base (the whole world in most cases) that their volume levels may be extremely high so offering lower prices is within reason and good business.

    6. Laptop Coupons

Many major online laptop sellers such as Dell, HP, Toshiba do offer online coupons and special sales which can mean tremendous savings or discounts for the average buyer. In many cases these coupons or deals are only available online so it really pays to buy your laptop from the web.

    7. Free Shipping

Free shipping is also offered by many online retailers and notebook manufacturers. This is another reason why buying online can prove beneficial. UPS or next day shipping is often available, although if you're having your laptop configured or created to your own specifications it usually takes longer to receive your purchase.

So the next time you're thinking about buying a laptop, consider buying it online. It will not only be more convenient but you will also have a wider selection, better pricing, and all the reviews and customer feedback you will need to make a wise decision. Moreover, it doesn't matter where you live, you can comparison shop to find the best deal to suit your needs. Plus, if you check around, you can get free shipping thrown in as an extra reason to buy your laptop online.

How to Repair Your Windows Registry

For those who don't know what a Windows Registry is, or whether or not they even have one, the simple answer is that if you are running a computer that has Windows installed, then you have a Windows Registry. The registry is a storage area that contains all the important information needed to run the computer, such as the preferences and settings for all the hardware and software that is installed.

Viruses, hardware and software upgrades, as well as regular computer use can corrupt the registry, causing the computer to run more slowly and making the system less stable. Signs that you may have a registry problem include frequent freezing, constant errors, and system crashing. If one or more of these problems are occurring, cleaning up the registry will help you to restabilize the system.

There are two main ways to repair your windows registry - manually or with a registry cleaner. However, undertaking this task manually is a huge task and requires hours of work, as you have to sit and sift through all the errors, making changes one by one. It can be done, but there is a much easier, and quicker way.

Registry cleaning software is available for use and is much quicker. The software will scan your computer and inform you of the number of errors it finds. You will then be given options to 'repair' or 'delete' errors, depending on how the errors are affecting the system. All of the repair options are built in automatically, so clean-up just requires a single click of the button.

It is advisable that before using a registry cleaner, you do a backup of your current system. On occasion a current and useful file may be deleted. However, most registry cleaners are fairly accurate when suggesting which files can be deleted. Some also have a built in backup option, so that the system is backed up by the cleaning software before the deletion is undertaken and important files can be restored if needed.

To begin using a registry cleaner, you need to either download a free or trial copy from the internet, or purchase a copy of your chosen software. After doing a backup of your system, simply install the cleaner and run a scan on your computer.

A good cleaner will return a total number of errors, perhaps 305, and a 'safe to delete' or 'safe to remove' total, of, for instance 112 errors. Be wary if the cleaner informs you that all the errors can be deleted. It's likely that some are attached to current programs, and deleting them will cause problems. Of course, as long as you've made a back up of the system, if something is deleted in error, it can always be reloaded. And you don't have to choose to delete the errors if you think that it will be a problem. Most errors can be repaired automatically, doing very little, if any noticeable harm comes to your system.

The type of registry cleaner you decide to use will depend on the options that you want. Some allow you to manually sift through the errors and select which ones you want removed. Some provide detailed descriptions of the errors that have been found. Others are completely automated, with no manual settings available. Depending on your experience level, you can pick and choose amongst a large number of solutions to find one that will work just right for you.

No matter which you choose, registry cleaners are generally easy to use, and save you a lot of time in comparison to sorting through your registry manually. As long as you perform a system back up before deleting any errors, you'll find that using cleaning software is a pain free process.

Cleaning out your Windows registry is crucial to the performance of your PC. If you're ready to clear out your registry errors, you'll want to review registry cleaners before you buy. Review the top registry cleaners on the web and download trial versions today from http://www.registrycleanersreviewed.com
